Assessment Questions
Can I use a private assessment for an EHCP?
Yes. Our reports meet the standards required for EHCP applications and school SEND support. We write them to be practically useful, not just diagnostic.
How long does the assessment take?
The process typically spans 4–8 weeks from screening to report, depending on school availability and scheduling.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes - we can discuss installment options. Just ask when you book your free screening call and we’ll find something that works.
What ages do you assess?
We currently offer autism assessments for children aged 5 and above. Contact us if you’re unsure whether your child meets the criteria.
What tools do you use?
We use gold-standard tools including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, in line with NICE guidance for autism assessment.
What happens after the assessment?
You receive a detailed written report and a feedback session. Therapy can begin immediately if needed — no re-referral required.

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can refer your child directly — no GP letter or NHS referral needed. Just get in touch.
Does my child need an autism diagnosis first?
Absolutely not. SLT is open to all children, regardless of diagnosis.
How often will my child need sessions?
Most children attend weekly or fortnightly. We’ll recommend a block length after the initial assessment.
Can therapy help with EHCPs?
Yes. We write EHCP-ready reports and liaise directly with schools and local authorities.
What if my child is already on the NHS waiting list?
Private therapy can run alongside the NHS wait. We’ll share our reports with NHS teams when the time comes.
How much does SLT cost?
Session fees are on our fees page. We’re happy to discuss what’s realistic on our free call.

Where are you based?
We’re based in Cramlington, Northumberland - easily accessible from Newcastle, Ashington, Morpeth and Blyth. Free parking on site.
Can I visit the clinic before committing?
Yes - book a free call first, and if you’d like to see The Hive before your first appointment we can arrange that.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 48 hours notice. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice are charged at the full session rate.
